It has come to our attention that there are copies of Eurovox boxes in circulation.This has led to confusion in some peoples' minds regarding the possibility that the boxes we sell may be copies.We wish to make it perfectly clear that as the sole official supplier of the Eurovox boxes in Ireland that all our boxes are 100% genuine boxes and we do not support or condone the use of cloned boxes in any way whatsoever.Firstly it is the older "blue" box that has been cloned.This box comes in a blue box as below and hasn't been officially manufactured since February of this year.

The cloned blue boxes have thiner cardboard packaging than the original boxes.

If you look at the serial number on both the cardboard packaging and the receiver the number on the clones is more bold than on the original as can be seen below.

On the receiver itself the channel change,volume and on/off buttons have a clunkier feel and make a louder noise than on the original.The cheaper components used in the receiver is very obvious here.On the original boxes if you open the flip-down panel at the front and look at the back of the channel,volume and power buttons you will see they are silver as on the front but on the clones they are black like the rest of the inside of the panel.

Also if you pull down this display and leave the receiver on standby the red led that glows is difficult to look at with your eyes while on the original receivers it is a softer glow.

The biggest differences are to be seen inside the receiver as can be seen from the pictures below.

I have even heard of some people selling these boxes and calling them 2007 boxes.When the customer receives the cloned box in the blue packaging(the colour of the original 2006 official eurovox box)the seller then tells them that it is a 2007 box,which technically is true because the clones were only manufactured this year.While the customer had purchased what they thought to be a 2007 original box in red packaging as can be seen below,they have ended up with a 2007 clone in blue packaging.

Some of these sellers even ask the people who have been duped to check the year in the system information menu on the receiver to back up their claim which will of course show 2007.You certainly won't see any software in it later than February because later versions of the software will kill the clones.I hope the above pictures have been of use to anyone who suspects that the receiver they have is a clone.If you contact the person you bought it off do not tell them you opened it up as they will say you have voided your warranty,letting them off the hook.
